Special Spring Backpacking Trip
from Thursday 16 to
Saturday 18 April 2026
Maps required to be decided!
This is now a past outing .. like to read about it?
General
This trip involves a two-night stay in a remote area of Scotland for some hillwalking. We can either stay at a bothy or camp. The proposal is to drive up on the morning of the first day, park the cars and walk into the bothy or campsite. This will hopefully give us relatively easy access to some remote hills on the following day.
We will walk out again sometime on the third day for the drive back home.
The above dates are to reduce the chance of a busy bothy, with Saturday night being particularly bad from recent experience.
Detail
It is appreciated that the weather will play a big part in how far we travel. If it becomes apparent the weather is going to be severe, then a venue closer to home can be considered.
All provisions for the weekend will have to be carried in as there are no shops or tearooms at these bothies! Don’t forget to leave room in your rucksack for a drink or two!!
Please let me have your suggestions for an area you'd like to visit, including the proposed walk-in route. I can then collate these proposals and provide a shortlist to interested parties. A final decision can then be made 2 or 3 days before we travel.
STOP PRESS: A couple of early suggestions are ...
* Kinbreack Bothy .. walk in from the end of Loch Arkaig.
* Corrour Bothy .. walk in from the Linn of Dee (wise to take a tent for this venue).

Travel
Travel will be by car to suit individual plans and arrival times. Car sharing will be organised a few days before we go.
Accommodation
The accommodation will be FREE of charge.
What next?
Please let me know if you are interested and your preferences. I'll then keep in touch with interested parties and finalise a plan.
