The next outing of the Weekday Walkers will be to Clyde Muirshiel Country Park and Hill of Stake on THURSDAY 31 OCTOBER.
We'll meet at the Visitor Centre car park, at the very end of the road, at 10.30am. Click the pic for a map of the area showing how to get to Muirshiel from Lochwinnoch ....
If anyone requires a lift, or to car share, please let me know and I'll arrange to meet at the Linn Park Golf Course Car Park in Simshill Road (corner of Linnview Avenue .. G44 5EP for satnavs) at 9am.
We'll head northwestwards on the LandRover track for 3.5km to the old mine, where there's now an unlocked container complete with table and chairs, for the 4x4 driving courses that are held here .. and a possible sandwich break. We'll turn southwestwards onto the open hillside and head for point 493m, then to Hill of Stake at 522m .. the highest point in Renfrewshire. We'll then head southeastwards for Misty Law at 510m before descending northeastwards and northwards back to the bridge over the Calder that we crossed on the walk-in.
Distance is about 10 km, with a total ascent of about 300m .. likely time is 3-4 hours ....
Post-walk refreshments could be taken at the "Loch House" near Lochwinnoch if required ...
