This is now a past outing .. like to view some pics?
The APRIL Weekday Walk will be to the Falkirk area on WEDNESDAY 24th (in a change to the normal pattern of weekdays) .. visiting the Falkirk Wheel, a section of the Forth and Clyde Canal, and the Kelpies.
We'll meet at the Car Park in Millenium Wheel Drive at 10am .. please see below ...

From Glasgow head towards Stirling on the M80. Take the M876 turnoff just after Castlecary and leave at the first junction, heading for Falkirk. At the second roundabout (Boardwalk) turn right and follow Millenium Wheel Drive to the car park at the road end.
The walking route follows the level canal tow path for just under 4 miles. After admiring the Kelpies we can have a lunch stop in one of the cafes, or eat outside if the weather is favourable
We then have a decision to make. Either:
1. Return by the same route, a further 4 miles.
2. Regular buses run from just outside the nearby Falkirk football stadium to the centre of Falkirk. Then either walk back to the start point or take a second bus to the road end near the Boardwalk. Remember your bus pass if you have one!
3. Continue the walk from Falkirk stadium, via Callendar Park and then on to Falkirk High station where we can access the Union canal. The towpath can then be followed back to the car park (4.5 miles).
Route 2 would then be about 4 miles (if taking 2 buses), while walks 1 and 3 are longer (8 to 8.5 miles).
If you're going on this walk, please let me know by Monday 22nd April so that I know who to expect .. !
