Weekend Trip to the Roybridge area
from Friday 24 to Sunday 26 September 2021
Main map required is probably LandRanger 41 Ben Nevis, Fort William & surrounding area,
but you may need others if you plan to walk outwith this area.
The September weekend trip will be to the Roybridge area. Initially, the weekend was to be held at Drumnadrochit for three nights, but the bunkhouse that I planned to book for the weekend is still closed. The current theme at the moment is that all accommodation is fully booked from carry-overs from last year, and some are cashing in on the staycation boom by charging high prices. However, I've managed to secure accommodation in the Aite Cruinnichidh Hostel near Roybridge, but only for 2 nights .. Friday 24th and Saturday 25th.
The bunkhouse sleeps 28 (dependent on the relaxing of current Covid Restrictions) in eight rooms ranging from 4-bed rooms to double rooms – prices ranging from £22 pppn to £30 pppn depending on the type of room. Initially I've booked 10 places, but there is still space for more places if required.
The bunkhouse has all the facilities; however the Glenspean Lodge Hotel is in the vicinity of the bunkhouse and is open for meals and beverages .. and possibly an option for accommodation for some.
Travel will be by car pool, as far as Covid restrictions allow. We'll discuss final car sharing and hill plans closer to the time.
The area around Roy Bridge has nearly endless opportunities for hillwalking, low-level walks and cycling. If you would like some help finding or working out some suitable routes, please let me know.
If you would like to join us for the weekend in Roybridge, please let me know by e-mail as soon as possible and certainly NO LATER than Friday 6th August .. so that any unused places can be cancelled, or additional places can be booked without incurring a cost.
I'll be in touch afterwards about payment.
