Weekend Trip to the Lake District from
Friday 19 to Sunday 21 October 2018
Main map required is LandRanger 90 Penrith, Keswick & Ambleside area,
but you may need others if you're travelling further afield.
This is now a past outing. Like to read about it?
For this weekend, we'll be basing ourselves in Pooley Bridge, a pretty town at the top of Ullswater in the Lake District.
I've secured rooms at the Pooley Bridge Inn, a famous and well established inn which offers a good selection of local food and beverages.
The total B&B cost of the weekend, with club subsidy, is £65 per person sharing a twin or double room.
The area has an abundance of great walking with the hills of Helvellyn, High Street, St Sunday Crag and Fairfield close by ...
... and lots of lower level routes such as Aira Force and Gowbarrow Fell, Hartsop and Brothers Water, Hallin Fell and Barton Fell.
Then there's the Ullswater Way .. a circular route of 21 miles which can be broken up into 4 separate walks. By using the Steamer, which will still be running in October, you can enjoy a pleasant cruise around the lake or be dropped off at the start of your particular section.
If you would like to come along, please let me know by e-mail no later than Monday 30th May, so that the accommodation can be confirmed.
