Map required is LandRanger 72 Upper Clyde Valley, Biggar & Lanark,
but you can download and print a useful map section below ....
This is now a past outing .. like to read about it?
This November day walk replaces the postponed weekend to Arran and will be an ascent of Culter Fell (Graham, 748m), which can be extended to include Coomb Hill (Donald Top, 640m) or Gathersnow Hill (Graham, 688m).
There is some parking along the road beyond Culter Allers Farm and we'll meet there at 10am ...

Our route will take us south along the Coulter Reservoir road for a short distance before turning east just beyond a large forestry plantation to take a track that leads uphill to Juniper Knowes, and then to Tippet Knowe .. both marked only on 1:25k maps. We'll continue to Glenharvie Moss before the final ascent to Culter Fell along its northern ridge (4km, ascent 510m). There are several shorter descent options, but we'll continue south over Moss Law to Holm Nick. From here, there's a track down to Coulter Reservoir and the road that leads back to the start along Culter Water (Total: 13km and 550m ascent, 5h).
Holm Nick is at 480m and the summits of Gathersnow Hill or Coomb Hill are around 2km and an ascent of about 200m, and could easily be added to the round, depending on the time and ambition of the group.
If you would like to join the club on this outing, please reply by Friday 15 November.
Please let me know what your travel plans are so that I can coordinate car sharing.
