Day Trip to Broughton Heights
on Sunday 16 May 2021

Map required is LandRanger 72 Upper Clyde Valley.. but you can download a useful map section below ....

This is now a past outing .. like to read about it?

The third post-lockdown warmup walk will be on SUNDAY 16 MAY.

To travel to Broughton, take the M74 to Junction 13 and take the A702 to Biggar. From Biggar take the B7016 to Broughton and meet at the car park on the estate road off the A701 (GR 120374) for 9.30am.

We'll walk up the track, then head SE to climb on to the ridge. We'll head out to Trahenna Hill, then continue along the main ridge to Hammer Head. We'll descend to the track then climb to Broomy Side. We'll continue along the ridge over Green Law and up to the summit of Pyke Stone Hill.

We'll return over Green Law and Broomy Side then climb to Clover Law, finally descending to cross Hollows Burn and following the track back to the car park.

The total distance is 11km (6.8miles) with total ascent of 765m and will probably take about 4 hours.

Download a map of the area?

If you would like to come along, just turn up at the start point at 9.30am.  However, it would be nice if you would drop me a note to let me know that you plan to come along.
