Weekend Trip to Ballater
from Friday 24 to Sunday 26 March 2017

Main map required is probably LandRanger 44 Ballater, Glen Clova & surrounding area, but
you may need 43 Braemar to Blair Atholl, and others if you plan to walk further afield.

This is now a past outing.  Like to read about it?

General

For this trip, the club will be visiting the excellent Deeside Inn in Ballater.  The hotel is centrally located in Ballater, with ample parking.

Travel

Travel will be by car pool as usual, to suit individual plans for the Friday.  Car sharing and any hill plans for the Friday can be discussed in the bar on Friday night.  If you have any specific plans let me know so I can inform other members.  If you plan on travelling on the Friday night, I’ll put you in touch with others travelling at the same time.

Proposed Routes

There are plenty of walking opportunities in the area for all grades of walker, and Ballater is the in Cairngorms National Park.

For anyone not wanting to walk there are plenty of other places to visit, such as Balmoral Castle, one of the many whisky distilleries in the area, or perhaps some retail therapy.

Accommodation

I've provisionally booked 3 twin rooms for this trip.  Bed and Breakfast with the club subsidy is £69 per person, sharing a twin or double room.

The hotel has a choice of doubles, twins, singles and triple rooms.  Single rooms are available if required and I can confirm the cost of this option if requested.

What next?

If you're interested in joining this trip, please e-mail me as soon as possible, and certainly before Tuesday 31st January, to enable bookings to be confirmed.
