New Year Day Trip to Cairn Table
on Saturday 6 January 2018

Map required is LandRanger 71 Lanark & Upper Nithsdale,
but you can download and print the required map section below ....

This is now a past outing.  Like to read about it?

This New Year we're heading to East Ayrshire and the village of Muirkirk for an ascent of Cairn Table and some of its tops .. with the option of an easy low-level stroll along the River Ayr Way.

This trip will be by car pool, leaving Cathcart at 8am from the slightly adjusted meeting point near the former Inverlair Avenue entrance, outside the gate .. please be there 10 minutes early so that we can work out any car sharing arrangements.

The driving route will be to the M74 at Polmadie, then to Junction 11 for the A70 towards Ayr, then to the start of Glenbuck Loch at GR NS762282, where a car or cars will be left at the derelict house (Parish Holm) for the end of the route. It will probably take about an hour and 15 minutes to get there, so anyone travelling directly should be there for 9.15am. Travel will continue to Muirkirk and the car park at Kames for the Cairn Table path.

I haven't checked out the pubs in Muirkirk, but I'm sure one will welcome our custom after the walk ...
