Day Trip to a section of the Fife Coastal Path (Crail to Elie)
on Saturday 29 April 2017

The map required is LandRanger 59 St Andrews, Kirkcaldy & Glenrothes,
but you can download and print the route section below ....

This low level walk further continues the Club’s exploration of the Fife Coastal Path ....

The plan is to start walking from Crail, after taking the 1018 bus from Elie, and follow Section 5 of the Path westwards through Cellardyke, Anstruther, Pittenweem and St Monans back to Elie.

We'll meet at ELIE in good time to catch the number 95 bus heading for St Andrews, which leaves at 1018 from the stop in the main street where we started last year's route to Leven. There's plenty of parking in bays opposite the bus stop.

It'll probably take an hour and a half to get there from the Cathcart area .. so you'll probably be leaving Glasgow slightly later than the usual 8am. I haven't checked the single fare for the 34 minute journey, (but it was £4.20 last year for that 32-minute journey) and we'll get started walking around 1100.

The route is 11 miles long (17.5km) with short ascents and descents at various points along the way and will probably take 4 hours depending on stops and the weather. Further details can be read on the Fife Coastal Path website. We'll be passing the famous Anstruther Fish Bar, so enjoying a fish supper at the harbour may preclude the need to carry sandwiches ..!

Anstruther Fish Bar  Elie Station Bar

The Station Bar in Elie might be a good place for a post-walk refreshment .. but avoid the Ship Inn at all costs!

If you would like to take part in this low-level outing, please let me know, preferably by e-mail, no later than Wednesday 26 April, and I'll organise some car-sharing if required ....

Hope to see you on the day!
